Good Design Starts at the Beginning, Not the End

Interior design is not the decorative layer applied at the end of a build. It is the foundation the build should be resting on.

Interior under construction with finishes and selections being reviewed

There is a common assumption that interior design happens last, once the hard work of building is finished. It is an expensive assumption.

What gets decided too late

Where the sockets go. Whether the sofa wall is long enough. Whether the pendant lands over the middle of the island or six inches off it. Whether there is anywhere to put coats. None of these are decorative questions, and all of them are usually settled before anyone thinks to ask a designer.

A process, not a preference

Working to a defined sequence, consultation, agreement, measure, design review, ordering, installation, means each decision is made with the information it needs and in the right order. That is what keeps a project from doubling back on itself.

Collaboration beats correction

When we are working alongside your architect and builder from early on, we are contributing to the design rather than compensating for it. The house ends up feeling coherent because it was actually planned that way.
