A vaulted living room wrapped in glass, layered in cream, charcoal and warm ochre against the woodland outside.
The clients had moved into a townhome in downtown Raleigh and wanted their own contemporary spin on it. Working closely with them to understand their style, we developed a plan that carried their timeless tastes into a distinctly urban setting.
The kitchen does most of the talking. White shaker cabinetry and a marble waterfall island keep the room bright, while a black tapered range hood with fine white banding, blackened steel windows and brass-framed leather barstools supply the contrast. Brass pendants and hardware run the warmth through consistently rather than as an afterthought.
It is a scheme that reads as calm at first and then rewards a second look, which is usually the sign that the decisions underneath it were made carefully.
