Townhome Renovation
Hargett
A downtown Raleigh townhome given a contemporary spin, built around a black and brass kitchen with a marble waterfall island.

Project type
Residential Interiors
A white kitchen framed by timber posts, with a banquette, oak table and blackened linear lighting.
Two heavy timber posts frame the opening between the dining area and the kitchen, and the design uses that frame instead of fighting it. Everything beyond reads bright and quiet; everything within it is warmer and closer.
A built-in banquette runs along the island, paired with a cerused oak table and black spindle chairs, so the room seats a crowd without needing a separate formal space. Overhead, a blackened linear fixture with cone shades keeps the sightline low and the light on the table.
Handmade-look tile, floating timber shelves and soft blue upholstery keep the palette from tipping into austerity. It is a working kitchen that happens to photograph well, rather than the other way round.
Every project here was designed, sourced and installed by the same studio team.
